Family is everything to me. I would not be where I am today without them, their support, and constant love. I am one of four sisters. I have the most dedicated, amazing mother and a great coach of a father. Did I mention my three beautiful and talented sisters?!
I was born into a soccer family. From the beginning, my parents have always been supportive of my dreams of professional soccer. They gave me every opportunity to be on the best club teams in Washington. They never said no to any team I wanted to be on because of cost, inconvenience, or because it was "too much of a hassle". They demonstrated their commitment in actions rather than words. If I wanted to be on a team, they do everything in their power to get me on that team. This resulted in long 5-hour car rides to and from Seattle, staying in hotel rooms on the weekends, and many other sacrifices so I could get to the next level. I have the greatest parents in the world! Their commitment never fails to inspire me.
My dad was my first coach and my toughest critic. But he has also been my biggest fan. His passion for soccer has always centered my family around this beautiful game. He played soccer for the Community Colleges of Baltimore, MD and Towson State. He became a coach and now dedicates his time and passion to sport through the next generation of players. He works as the Director of Coaching at SoccerEdge Academy, a club based in Spokane, Washington. He was always the one I could count on to push me to become a better player. He has given me advice on how to improve as a player, been my sidekick to every soccer game I went to, and has been a valuable source of knowledge about the game. My passion, knowledge, and love of soccer started with him.
My mom has always been my rock and one I could always ask for advice. She is the most giving, selfless person I know. From orange slices at halftime to sending care packages to me in Finland, she has been a constant supporter ever since I was a little girl. She dedicates her time to always trying to provide me with every opportunity to further my soccer career. She was my sole companion on Spokane to Seattle road trips, every weekend in the spring since the beginning of my sophomore year of high school. In addition, she has been the truest inspiration of what it means to me to follow your call in life. As a result, my mom has supported me every step of the way. I am so grateful for a mom I can say is my true role model in life!
The bottom line is I am unbelievably thankful to have the family I have. God has blessed me in numerous ways and I intend to live the rest of my days glorifying him and never forgetting the wonderful gifts He has given me.
Thank you for everything Dad, Mom, Erinn, Shannon, and Colleen! Love you, miss you!
